Samsung Galaxy A35: everything you need to know

Samsung may be behind some of the most well-known Android flagship phones, but the company isn't just focused on high-end devices.

In fact, mid-range models such as the Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34 are among the brand's most popular.

And it's easy to understand why. Although they are more affordable, they offer excellent value for money, especially if you are a fan of One UI software and have invested in the Samsung ecosystem.

In this context, it is not surprising that the Galaxy A35 is highly anticipated. And even though its release isn't scheduled for some time, there are already plenty of rumors circulating about it.

When will the Samsung Galaxy A35 be released?

Samsung generally sticks to a consistent schedule for releasing its phones, with March usually being when its mid-range offerings are released.

The Dutch site GalaxyClub imagines the start of spring 2024 as a potential date, which would correspond to the launches of previous generations:

Galaxy A32 – February 2021
Galaxy A33 – March 2022
Galaxy A34 – March 2023

Even if it's not February or March, the Galaxy A35 will likely arrive in 2024. However, it's worth noting that none of the aforementioned models have been released in the United States, and that's unlikely to change.

How much will the Samsung Galaxy A35 cost?

The Samsung Galaxy A34 was an immediate success, as it combined very decent specifications with an affordable price.

We don't expect things to differ, although at this stage there is no concrete information regarding pricing yet. Let's take a look at the prices of some of the previous models to see where we stand:

Samsung Galaxy A32 – €329
Samsung Galaxy A33 – €379.99
Samsung Galaxy A34 – €399

As you can see, the prices of the Galaxy A3X series have been steadily increasing, with the phone slowly moving from being a very affordable device to a mid-range one. This development is due to inflation, but also to the improvement of equipment over the years.

Further price increases are possible, but expect to pay at least the starting price of the Galaxy A34 for the A35.

What will be the features of the Samsung Galaxy A35?

At the time of writing, the Galaxy A35 is not expected to be released for some time. However, we already have a good idea of what it might look like:

Design

Samsung has introduced big design changes to its Galaxy A34 and A54 phones, so minor updates are more likely this time around.

We can hope for something very similar to the Galaxy A34 (shown below).

The screen

The screen is another area that we image unchanged. The Galaxy A34 already comes with the best-in-class display, a gorgeous 6.6-inch AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate. It's possible that the brightness will be increased slightly, but that'll probably be it.

Of course, there is a chance that Samsung might decide to introduce a punch-hole camera in the A3X series, instead of the waterdrop notch of the Galaxy A34. This would make the smartphone much more modern, but that's just wishful thinking for now.

Performance

Performance was the main differentiator between the Galaxy A34 and the Galaxy A54.

While the latter benefits from the improved version Exynos 1380 from Samsung, the A34 must make do with the old Dimensity 1080 from MediaTek, but this could evolve on the next generation.

SamMobile suggests that the phone would be equipped with the upcoming Exynos 1480, Samsung's latest chip for this category. If so, the same SoC should be found in the Galaxy A55.

However, it is also possible that the brand will follow Apple's lead and equip its cheapest iteration with the previous generation processor, the Eynos 1380 here.

But whatever chip is responsible for the Galaxy A35's processing power, we imagine a decent increase in performance.

Cameras

Another important factor that distinguished the Galaxy A34 from the Galaxy A54 was its camera, especially the main sensor.

According to GalaxyClub, the A35 will be equipped with the same 50MP primary lens as the A54, a nice boost for its photographic capabilities.

However, it is not yet clear what the other rear lenses will be, the 8 MP ultra wide-angle and 2 MP macro could both be improved. We also don't know if the 13MP selfie lens will be changed.

Battery and charging

So far, unfortunately, there is no information about changes to the battery or charging of the Galaxy A35.

An identical situation compared to the Galaxy A34 is most likely, which would mean a capacity of 5000mAh and 25W wired charging, but incompatible wirelessly.

It's also worth noting that you'll probably have to do without an adapter in the purchase box.

Software

Android 14 is here, but we're still waiting for the full version from Samsung, known as One UI 6.

The Samsung India website summarizes the main changes, which include updates to notifications, a new camera UI, and a revamped Samsung Health app.

As the Galaxy A35 is not expected before March 2024, it is very likely that it will integrate One UI 6.
